DECAYED

FENGYUN 1C DEB, 30602 (Decayed)

Orbit data source: Space-Track

FENGYUN 1C DEB, 30602 was space debris in SSO originally from a launch on Mon, 10 May 1999 UTC launched from the Taiyaun Space Center, China (TSC). Fengyun 1C debris stems from the Chinese weather satellite Fengyun-1C, which was intentionally destroyed by a Chinese anti-satellite missile in 2007. This event dramatically increased the amount of space debris, with thousands of trackable fragments posing hazards to satellites and human spaceflight. The Fengyun 1C debris cloud has become a focal point in discussions about space sustainability and the need for international regulations to prevent the creation of new debris.
