FENGYUN 1C DEB *, 47001 is space debris in SSO originally from a launch on Mon, 10 May 1999 UTC launched from the Taiyaun Space Center, China (TSC). Fengyun 1C debris stems from the Chinese weather satellite Fengyun-1C, which was intentionally destroyed by a Chinese anti-satellite missile in 2007. This event dramatically increased the amount of space debris, with thousands of trackable fragments posing hazards to satellites and human spaceflight.
